Mentoring
It can be lonely running a business – the employees are often too critical, the family can be too polite and with both there can be a cost in terms of loss of face or lack of understanding
So a Mentor can work with you and will be totally confidential,non-judgmental, and (except for the fee) without costs. So you can talk about leaving for the South Seas with someone else, mortgaging the family silver or just going about the running of the firm in a different way.
The process will usually include a regular meeting face to face for an hour, followed by telephone support and discussion as required.
It would be usual to agree aims or targets for the process which probably should include learning how to manage without external support, but there are no rules or norms to follow.
The success of this process is very much dependent upon the characters of the people involved. An initial free meeting will aim to achieve a spark of understanding or an agreement to avoid throwing things at one another.
